There are 3 file types use the .LIF file extension:
1. LEGO Digital Designer Assets File
Container format used by LEGO Digital Designer (LDD), a program used for constructing 3D models with digital LEGO parts; saved in the program installation directory and contains program assets such as bricks and other 3D model parts; uses a proprietary binary format.
LIF files can be extracted with a Python program named LIF Extractor.

2. Leica Image File
Image file created by a Leica microscopy instrumentation device and the integrated Leica desktop software; may contain multiple images taken in succession; used for storing highly magnified images of biological specimens, which can be called photomicrographs.

3. TurboTax Information Archive
Compressed archive created by older versions of TurboTax tax preparation software; saves application data; not supported by newer versions of the software.
