There is only one file type that uses the .LOG2 extension:
Windows Registry Hive Log 2 File
Log file created by the Windows registry during setup; stores trace information created during setup that is not modified again; commonly found under a user's directory or under %SystemRoot%\System32\config\; saved as a hidden file in Windows.
LOG2 files exist as part of the Windows registry "hive", which comprise a subset of the overall Windows registry. Other registry files include .LOG and .LOG2 files. A common LOG2 file is ntuser.dat.LOG2.
