There are 4 file types use the .LYT file extension:
- Adminsoft Document Layout File
- TurboTax Install Log File
- Xcalibur Layout File
- vanBacsco's Karaoke Player Skin File
1. Adminsoft Document Layout File
Document layout exported by Adminsoft, a free "double entry" accounting system; used for saving and exchanging financial documents with other users; examples include customer sales invoices, account statements, sales quotes, and purchase orders.
Adminsoft now provides a Document Exchange web page where users can download various document layouts.
NOTE: The ".lyt" extension was introduced in Adminsoft 4.009, in June 2011. It combines the two previous files (.FRX and .FRT) into a single LYT file.

2. TurboTax Install Log File
Log file created by the TurboTax software installer; saves a lot of all files installed during the installation process; includes both filenames and file path locations; used by older versions of TurboTax and not supported by recent editions.

3. Xcalibur Layout File
File created by Thermo Scientific Xcalibur, a data analysis software for Thermo Scientific mass spectrometers; saves the layout of charted graphs or other static plots in a data window; enables specific view arrangements to be saved.

4. vanBacsco's Karaoke Player Skin File
Skin used by vanBasco's Karaoke Player, a karaoke program; contains the graphics and layout settings for the player; used for modifying the program's look and feel by adding custom graphics.
LYT files should be placed in the installation directory of vanBasco's Karaoke Player. Skins can be enabled by right-clicking on the player, selecting "Setup...," and then navigating to the "Misc" tab. The player's default skin is called default.lyt.
NOTE: vanBasco's Karaoke Player is no longer being developed.
