Link file used by Windows Media Center (WMC), a program used as an entertainment hub for large home screens; contains settings for the application name, location, and startup options; serves as a shortcut to launch a specified application within WMC.
While MCL files are commonly used during the application development process, they are discouraged for use in application installation and launching.
MCL files are opened by the WMC host, which is a program called ehshell.exe. They are stored in an XML format.
