There are 2 file types use the .MPZ file extension:
1. Miradi Project File
Project file created with Miradi, an environmental conservation program; includes environmental threats, targets, viability analysis, and planning information; can be viewed visually within Miradi.
MPZ files are saved in a compressed (zipped) format to save disk space.

2. Red Eclipse Map File
Game map file used by Red Eclipse, a first-person shooter (FPS) game based on the Cube 2 game engine; contains the terrain, spawn points, items, weapons, and other settings for a game level; commonly used for storing custom game maps.
Red Eclipse is the successor to Blood Frontier, an FPS game also developed with Cube 2. Blood Frontier .BGZ map files can be loaded into Red Eclipse. However, not all MPZ files can be loaded into Blood Frontier due to newer extensions to the map file format.
MPZ files are saved in a compressed GZip format.
