There are 2 file types use the .NST file extension:
1. NoiseTracker Module
An NST file is a module used by NoiseTracker, a freeware audio tracking program created in 1989. It contains one or more audio tracks, which include note patterns and sound samples.
The NST file is the main file type associated with NoiseTracker. It saves a module, which consists of sound samples that are played back according to the notes in the modules.
NoiseTracker was commonly used by Amiga game musicians to create music. Amiga was a personal computer platform manufactured by Commodore in the 1980s and 1990s. NoiseTracker was discontinued and is no longer available for download. If you have an NST file that needs to be played, you can use Nullsoft Winamp in Windows.

2. Outlook Connector for Notes File
An NST file is a storage file created by Outlook Connector for IBM Lotus Domino, an add-in for Microsoft Outlook that allows users to access Lotus Notes through Outlook. It contains Notes messages and other data for access offline that is stored locally on your computer. NST files are similar to Outlook offline .OST files.
NST files may grow large in size, which may slow the performance of your computer and cause Outlook to crash. If you delete NST files they are automatically recreated by the Connector add-in. To permanently remove the NST file you must delete the Outlook profile and create a new profile.
NST files are located in the same folder with other local profile settings files, such as OST and .PST files, in the following directories:
- Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
- Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 - C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
