There are 3 file types use the .SSM file extension:
1. Sound Clip Archive
Sound clip archive used by GameCube and Wii games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee and Kirby Air Ride; contains multiple DSP sound clips referenced during gameplay to play sound effects.
The SSM archive format is designed to hold short audio clips, often only one second long. SSM files are most commonly utilized by games developed by HAL Laboratory.

2. Standard Streaming Metafile
Streaming audio or video file format used by RealPlayer.

3. Samsung S Memo File
An SSM file is a data file created by Samsung Galaxy mobile phones. It is used to save the user's memos, which may be handwritten notes or designs, that were created on the phone.
The SSM file may be synced and backed up to a computer using Samsung Kies software. However, Kies cannot open or read the file.
