There are 3 file types use the .UDS file extension:
1. NetBackup UNIX Domain Socket File
Socket file created by NetBackup, an application used to create backups using networked drives; created when NetBackup launches and used for TCP/IP communication; may be reported to error log files if a remote device is not accessible due to firewall or other network limitations.
NOTE: Veritas NetBackup was formerly known as Symantec NetBackup

2. Sierra Generations File
File created by Sierra Generations, a program that stores family tree data; contains names, dates, ancestors, and descendants.
Sierra Generations is no longer a supported program. UDS files can be converted using services provided by TWR Computing.

3. Uniform Data System File
Data file used by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to collect data on grantee health care providers; contains data such as patient demographics, services provided, staffing, clinical indicators, costs, and revenues; produced by grantee health care providers at the local, state, and national levels.
