There are 3 file types use the .USR file extension:
1. SmartMusic Custom File
Music file used by SmartMusic, a band, orchestra, and vocal music practice application; contains a customization of a SmartMusic Title; custom changes include altering tempos and cutting measures.
To create a USR file:
- Open a title, click , and choose an existing customization or add a new one by clicking "New Customization."
- Add your customizations.
- Right-click your customization, select , name the file, choose the save location, and click .
To import your USR file, open a title, click, select "Import," navigate to the location of your USR file, and click .

2. FileMaker Pro Database File
Database file used by FileMaker, a program used to create, manage, and share databases; contains a user database stored in a proprietary format; used for importing data, creating custom reports, and sharing databases and results from data analysis.
USR databases use a complex file format to store data, scripts, layouts, and images. They can be exported into a variety of formats using FileMaker Pro. Data can be imported from text files, Excel documents or Bento databases.
USR files are sometimes stored as UFSR files in Mac OS X.

3. Lowrance GPS Data File
A USR file is a data file used by Lowrance iFinder GPS handheld devices, which are used by fishermen for navigating and saving fishing spots. It may contain waypoints, routes, tracks, and event marker icons.
USR files are created and saved on to the MultiMediaCard (MMC) in a Lowrance iFinder GPS device. The files can be transferred to a computer by inserting the MMC into a computer and then opened and converted to another GPS format using GPSBabel.
