There are 5 file types use the .VP file extension:
- Verilog Encrypted Source Code File
- Ventura Publication File
- Vertex Program File
- Volition Package File
- Justinmind Prototype File
1. Verilog Encrypted Source Code File
Encrypted file originally written in Verilog, a hardware description language (HDL) used to specify electronic system designs; stores the encrypted version of a Verilog source code file, which uses the .V extension; used for protecting intellectual property stored in plain text source code files.
VP files allow developers to deliver electronic systems models in an encrypted form. The files are encrypted with a public key so that they can only be decrypted with the associated private key. Once decrypted, they can be read as normal Verilog files.

2. Ventura Publication File
File created by Corel Ventura, a professional page layout application; stores a digital publication, which can include text, raster and vector graphics, and page formatting information; used for storing a publication and publishing it to digital or print media.
Publications created in Ventura are automatically based on the publication template, which is stored in the Default.vp file. This template contains the default layout for the chapters, frames, graphical objects, and style sheets of a new publication.
NOTE: Corel Ventura is no longer developed.

3. Vertex Program File
File used by applications that use OpenGL technology; specifies display properties for vertexes within a three-dimensional model; saved in a text format and uses low-level syntax called assembly language.
NOTE: VP files are also referred to as "ARB Vertex Programs." ARB stands for the OpenGL Architecture Review Board, a committee that oversees the OpenGL specification.

4. Volition Package File
Uncompressed file archive created in the Volition Package (VP) format; contains a collection of files, such as game graphics and other resources; allows game developers to bundle multiple files together while maintaining an accessible directory structure.
The Volition Package format was created as part of the Descent Manager Tools (DMTOOLS) suite, which is a set of utilities for Descent 1-3 and FreeSpace 1-2. Descent and FreeSpace are computer games where players control ships in outer space.

5. Justinmind Prototype File
A VP file contains an application prototype created by Justinmind, a prototyping tool for web and mobile applications. It stores information about a prototype, which includes the design of the application and interactive components, such as dropdown menus and sliders, that can be tested by developers or clients.
Prototype1.vp - Default name given to new VP files created with Justinmind.
You can only open VP files with Justinmind. To open the VP file, simply select. You can also drag and drop the VP file into Justinmind, or double-click the VP file to open the prototype.
