There is only one file type that uses the .VSSETTINGS extension:
Visual Studio Settings File
Settings file created by Visual Studio, a software development tool used to build Windows programs and other software; contains configuration information for the Visual Studio IDE, including settings for the editor, projects, debugging, fonts, colors, window layouts, and other display preferences.
VSSETTINGS files are used for sharing workspace settings. They can be exported and then imported into a different installation of Visual Studio. They are saved in an XML format.
To import or export VSSETTINGS files in Visual Studio 2010, selectand follow the instructions in the wizard that is displayed.
