2. Software Overview
Adobe Dimension is a 3D graphics application used to create photorealistic scenes and abstract artwork. The program is primarily utilized by marketing professionals to generate visualizations of products in real-life environments but may also be used by digital artists to create artwork. The software includes various 3D tools for designing scenes, importing objects, applying textures and graphics to objects, and integrating objects into the environment.
Dimension provides a simple and easy-to-use interface with Design and Render views for toggling between the 3D scene and a preview of the rendered final image. The program comes with a large number of 3D object assets, such as laptops, bottles, tables, shirts, spheres, and cubes that can be added to the scene. You can also import assets into your design that are saved in third-party 3D file formats, which includes the Autodesk .FBX, Stereolithography .STL, Sketchup .SKP, and Wavefront 3D Object .OBJ formats.
When inserting objects into a scene, Dimension matches the existing lighting in the scene to the objects and positions them to fit the current camera perspective. You can apply materials and graphics to the objects and manually adjust object properties. Dimension also provides various camera tools for viewing your scene from any angle you desire. When you are finished modifying your scene, you can render it as an Adobe Photoshop .PSD or .PNG file in the Render view or export the entire scene or individual objects as .GLTF, .GLB, or .OBJ 3D model files.
Dimension provides a simple interface and a variety of helpful 3D tools. It is an especially helpful application for marketing designers and other digital artists. And while it may lack some of the more advanced features of heavy-weight 3D graphics programs, Adobe Dimension still packs enough of a punch to be a useful tool for visualizing abstract objects in real-life environments.
