2. Software Overview

Adobe Lightroom is an image editing program that provides similar editing capabilities to Adobe Photoshop. The application is available for Windows and Mac OS X platforms, as well as iOS mobile devices. Lightroom was formerly known as Photoshop Lightroom, but the program was renamed as Lightroom CC in Fall 2017, and eventually just Lightroom in Fall 2019. Photoshop Lightroom is still available for download as Lightroom Classic CC.

Lightroom provides helpful modules to create a smooth workflow. It features a library to help you organize your photos and quickly find them based on text, attributes, and metadata. The application provides photo editing capabilities in the Develop module, which supports popular file formats such as camera raw files, DNG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and the .PSD Photoshop file format. In the Develop module, you can apply many non-destructive edits, such as cropping or red-eye removal to your photos. You can also use advanced tools such as lens corrections, image effects, camera calibration, split toning, and tone curve to alter your photos.

Along with organizing and editing capabilities, Lightroom provides convenient avenues for sharing and publishing photos. You can create your own books, slideshows, prints, and webpage galleries through drag-and-drop functionality. You can also quickly publish your photos to social sites or your own website through Adobe Portfolio directly in Lightroom. In addition to these features, Lightroom is extensible, which allows you to install additional features, such as creative effects or Gmail image emailing, to the application.

Lightroom provides handy modules to organize, edit, and share your photos. It is especially attractive for photographers looking to edit their photos without being overwhelmed with choices and configurations. Adobe Lightroom proves to be a simple and efficient image editor and organizer.
