2. Software Overview
Blackmagic Design Fusion, previously Eyeon Fusion, is a professional compositing and motion graphics application used to create visual effects for title sequences, TV commercials and broadcast graphics. It is available for free for Windows and OS X and for purchase as Fusion Studio with more features for Windows, OS X, and Linux.
Fusion provides a node-based interface, integrated 2D and 3D motion graphics, and visual effects compositing capabilities. The application supports a wide variety of audio, video, and 3D model formats such as OpenEXR, Windows Bitmap, PNG, Photoshop, JPEG, Targa, RED RAWCODE, Biovision BVH, 3D Studio 3DS, SVG, AutoCAD DXF, Collada DAE, and Autodesk FBX. The software also provides a large range of tools to modify 3D materials, apply film grain, customize filters, create FusionScripts, smooth motion, and more.
The software is designed for 3D animators, broadcast and motion graphic designers, and visual effects artists. Work done by the program also appears in feature length film productions such as The Hunger Games series, Noah, Hercules, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. You can try out the application as it is available for free and decide if you want to purchase the Studio version, which is at a reasonable price. All of these aspects make Blackmagic Design Fusion an attractive visual effects tool for post production in Windows.
