2. Software Overview
Nethar Ancestry is a free genealogical database program that helps users organize family history. The program was created by Martin "Nethar" Doležal and previously known as Rodokmen.
The program allows you to add information about and insert photos of your relatives and create relationships between them. Once relationships are in place, you can generate family trees, which are lines of descendants or ascendants to a specific person, and then save them as a .JPG, .PDF, or .SVG file. The program also enables you to search for relationships, combine ancestries, and notifies you of anniversaries. Ancestry uses a proprietary .RODZ file format for saving your family data but can also import genealogy files saved in the GEDCOM format.
Ancestry is a simple program that provides several helpful features for organizing your family data. However, it is bare and weak compared to other genealogy programs, such as the free Gramps program, which is a better choice than Nethar Ancestry.
