2. Software Overview
Pixelmator is an image editing app for OS X. It can be used to draw, edit photos, paint, apply effects, and more.
The image editor supports a variety of popular image-editing file formats, such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF, BMP, PSD, and PDF. It features layer-based image editing and comes with more than 40 tools for selecting, drawing, typing, cropping, measuring, and retouching. You can choose from over 100 different effects to apply to your images and tweak the color of your images with 15 color correction tools. The image editor also integrates with OS X, which allows quick access to the photos on your computer and the ability to share images via Message, Mail, Twitter, and Facebook.
Pixelmator is a nice image editor that comes with features that will make casual users happy but will leave professional users wanting more. The product works as a toned-down version of Adobe Photoshop but with much less of a learning curve and asking price. If you can spend the money, Pixelmator is a solid image editor for its cost, but if you can't swing the price, try GIMP or the web-based Autodesk Pixlr app, which are both free.
